RENUNCIATION OF GHANAIAN CITIZENSHIP

 An application to renounce one's Ghanaian nationality should be addressed in the form of a letter to the Minister of Interior through this Embassy.

 The letter should give applicant's detailed curriculum vitae, and state the name and current address of his/ her parents. The letter should also state whether the applicant is in any way indebted to the Government of Ghana by way of bond, scholarship or otherwise. Applicant will also complete the appropriate Form sold at the Embassy).

 

 The application letter together with the completed Form and relevant photocopies of applicant's current Ghana Passport should be returned to the Embassy with one (1) passport-size picture and a letter of Warranty issued by the German State where he /she resides. An English translation of the Warranty should accompany the application. Also attach a photocopy of the Payment receipt for the application form.

 

It must be pointed out that the renunciation becomes legal only after a Certificate has been issued by Ghana's Minister of Interior.

 

 Under Ghana's Nationality Law, children under the age of eighteen (18) years CANNOT apply to change their Ghanaian nationality.Please note that any cancellation and erasure on the Renunciation Form renders it null and void and will not be forwarded to the appropriate authorities in Accra. All aaplicants must endeavour to avoid mistakes.

 

GHANA CITIZEN IDENTITY CARD

The Embassy issues out Identity cards for Ghanaian citizens living in Germany, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Applicants are required to complete an application for identity card and attach a copy of their Ghanaian passport (pages of personal particulars, signature and photo) to the application

 

ATTESTATIONS

Attestation are made to Ghanaian documents such as affidavits for change of name or marital status, birth certificates, marriage certificates etc. All sworn affidavits from a high court in Ghana, must bear an authentication letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra before submission to the Embassy for the required attestation.

Divorce Decrees issued in the German language or any other language, other than English, must be translated into English before submitting to the Embassy for attestation.

In all cases photocopies of the applicant`s Ghanaian passport (pages of personal particulars, photo and signature) must be attached to the request.
